Maria Harris – Solicitor – DWF LLPMaria is a solicitor in the Regulatory Team at DWF LLP, specialising in the food, retail and hospitality sectors. She provides advice to clients in relation to a range of regulatory issues and has been involved in the defence of some of the highest profile health and safety prosecutions in recent years in the UK. Maria assists clients in relation to both compliance and litigation; helping businesses to operate legally and safely in a practical way and she provides pragmatic advice and representation when things don't go according to plan. Through the LEP Mentoring scheme, Maria is looking forward to better understanding the practical realities which clients face when assessing risks within their businesses. 

Gail Wroth – Back of House Operations Manager – ATGGail is currently Back of House Operations Manager for the Liverpool Empire which is part of the Ambassador Theatre Group. She has worked extensively in theatre, corporate, rock & roll and new build projects for the last 35 years. Gail has held many positions from chief electrician, technical manager, project manager, and a health & safety officer.  Gail considers herself to be extremely lucky as she gets to work on different things everyday with brilliant people. Gail is looking forward to expanding her knowledge and learning more about the legal aspects and the EHO’s & ROSPAs perspective. Gail’s hobby is motorbikes & she volunteers for Merseyside & Cheshire Blood Bikes in her spare time

Raveena Purewal – Environmental Health Practitioner – Regulatory Services Partnership.Raveena is an Environmental Health Practitioner working in Food Safety and Health and Safety for the Regulatory Services Partnership (London Boroughs of Merton, Richmond and Wandsworth). Her role involves ensuring businesses are operating in accordance with relevant legislation and where they are not; she decides the most suitable means of enforcement, this could range from verbal advice to legal notices or prosecution. An average week for Raveena includes carrying out food hygiene inspections, carrying out food sampling, responding to food and health and safety complaints and conducting accident investigations.

 Raveena hopes that through the LEP mentoring scheme she will expand her health and safety knowledge and will learn to look at health and safety from different perspectives, other than the enforcers. 

Scott Jeffery – Property Management & Health and safety Coordinator – Lake District Estates Co Ltd.After spending 17 years working as a carpenter, an opportunity arose for Scott to take a new path in Property Management and Safety within Lake District Estates Co Ltd. Assisting with reviewing and planning property maintenance for 100 Residential Lets, working with the Lettings and Maintenance Managers to ensure suitable standards are upheld. In his current role as Safety Coordinator for Lake District Estates Co Ltd, Scott has passed his NEBOSH Construction with Credit giving him a great insight into Risk Management. He leads the relationship with the company’s H&S consultant and manages risk within the businesses including Fire, Legionella, Open Water, Construction, Compliance Monitoring, Accident Investigation and handling Insurance Claims. Scott’s role is incredibly varied as Lake district Estates Co Ltd are land owners in South Lakes, owning and operating 5 caravan parks and 1 Marina, The Ravanglass & Eskdale Railway and Ullswater ‘Steamers’, 3 outlet shops and 3 leased Farms. No two days are ever the same!
Scott is passionate about his job, Safety & Health and loves being out on site engaging with his Managers discussing issues and engineering practical solutions that fit for our business.

Tricia Holman – Risk Consultant – AvivaTrish has over 18 years’ experience in the Insurance industry, starting out in underwriting and more recently in a risk management consultancy capacity. 
Trish’s current role as a risk consultant requires her to visit various companies across industry, assess their current processes/practices and influence them to meet both legal standards and Insurance best practice requirements. Trish is driven by encouraging positive change and gets great satisfaction from transitioning a person’s view on risk for the better and has developed a skillset of negotiation skills to fulfil this. Trish brings with her a genuine approach and a calm persona but also a burning aspiration for self-development. Trish is excited to be a part of the Mentoring Programme and is very much looking forward to the opportunities to network and share best practice.  Trish is also keen to take from this, personal development from time with my mentor and the thoughtfully put together training days.  

Jonathan Thompson – Health & Safety Advisor – Puregym Jonathan is currently the Health & Safety Advisor for the Southern region of Puregym. This is his first role as an H&S advisor after spending 9 years as a Military Policeman in the Royal Air Force. Jonathan has been with Puregym for 2 years, in which he has worked closely with the City of London, EHO on building a relatable yet robust H&S package for the 225 plus Puregym club. The main focus of his role is to support the club’s management on all aspect of Health, Safety and Fire Management. He works closely with the Puregym property team to ensure compliance on building regulations and works with their Product team to ensure new ideas are adequately assessed and any control measures are implemented correctly. Jonathan is an avid Golfer and Gym goer, so mixing his new career with an industry he is passionate about, is the perfect match.
